Well our compound came through the hurricane with flying colours but our village of Little Paradise has been devastated. So many now are either homeless or have had all belongings washed out to sea and after cleaning out the mud sit alone in their empty shell. Our hearts are broken for them and wish we could do more as one after another comes to ask for help. We give them some food and a promise to do what we can....
Official statement - 1pm Tuesday Oct 5, 2016 - Grand Goave, Haiti The rain continued through the night and our compound was full of now homeless villagers. The winds died down close to morning and by 10:00am the sun was trying to shine. We put on walking shoes or boots and left the compound to see how everyone had managed the tempest. Our giant metal gates were bent and no longer able to close. Massive trees were down and homes were crushed....

We are here in Haiti right now battening down the hatches, doors and windows with Hurricane Matthew raging towards us. National Hurricane Center indicates warning for this impoverished country and Hope Grows Haiti is right in its path. Homes here are made of sticks and mud or even just tarps strung around poles. They would not survive a direct hit. Please pray with us for the protection and safety of all....
